I am going to go over all five songs on here in detail.

Something Is Brewing In The World: The opening track has a slight early 1970's Pink Floyd groove. It is very laid back and very groovy. The mellotron strings, the clavinet, the Rhodes and the organ all come from the Nord Electro 3 Seventy-Three keyboard. I can't forget my Eleca bass which looks like an old Fender Jazz bass and my main guitar the Fender Stratocaster. This track will have you listen to it over and over again.

People Are Waking Up At Night With Fear: This track has a heavy hard rock feel with the crunchy rhythm guitar, bass, organ and the lead guitar on the track is out of this world.

Escapism: This track sounds like it was recorded in the late 1960's. It has a very slight Traffic groove. I used my Ovation acoustic-electric on this one. All the other instruments are on there. There is a flanged echo wah wah guitar lead on there too. Just for the record all of the drum programming is done through my trusty recorded software Sonoma Wireworks Riffworks. Sometimes I use Rex 2 drum loops or the Instant Drummer sessions.

The World Is Going Through Fire & Fury: This particular track comes across between heavy metal or hard rock from the 1970's. The lead organ along with the hard and heavy bass and the crunchy hard rock rhythm guitar. This one will keep you moving.

The Impeachment: The final track has a groovalistic Stax styled soul groove with the mellotron sax and mellotron trumpet playing with each other. The clean rhythm guitar is out of this world on this one. The bass is locked in with the drum groove throughout the whole song.

Hope each and every one of you will check out "Turmoil" on February 2, 2021. Thank you all for the support.

Sincerely,

Robert Watson
Robert Watsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16230423469647398622noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5938885514516424111.post-32788530970462980972020-11-08T06:49:00.004-08:002020-11-08T06:49:43.763-08:00CHECK ME OUT ON NUMBER ONE MUSIC PAGE
To all of my fans.

You can check me out on here at https://www.n1m.com/robertwatson It would mean the world to me.
I have been an artist for thirteen years. I decided to really go for it with my heart and soul. It took time but I believed in myself enough to follow my own musical vision. There was no doubt in my mind that I was going to be an instrumentalist. Instrumental music was dying as an art form in rock & roll, rhythm & blues, funk and soul. Instrumental music was still alive in traditional jazz or new age music.

I became a one man band by a necessity. I play guitar, bass and keyboards with drum programming through a software called RiffWorks made by Sonoma Wireworks. I use a Line 6 audio interface called Guitarport Rifftracker. It came with Gear Box and RiffWorks. I also use a software called POD Farm. With those tools I developed a unique sound that was quite interesting to me coming from a guy with high functioning autism. I never thought in a million years I would be doing this. I am very grateful.

I put out nine digital releases to my name. They are available at all digital stores.

I describe my sound as a little bit of Jimi Hendrix mixed with Memphis Soul from the Stax-Volt era. A little bit of Ernie Isley from the Isley Brothers from the period between 3+3 and Live It Up. That inspired my lead playing sound but my rhythm guitar playing sound is a bit of early 1970's soul sound from the Invictus and Hot Wax labels owned by the Holland-Doizer-Holland team as well as the late 1960's juke joint southern soul. My bass playing is strictly old school with a lighter feel that is not fancy but very simple and very laid back.

Songwriting is a process with me. A song can take days, weeks or even months. I like to make my songs sound really good before I determine to let other people hear them.

In closing I would like to leave everyone with this. Stay positive. No negativity. Life is too short. Keep your head up. Never give up hope. Keep the faith.

This is my first blog in almost a year. I have a new digital album coming out on the 4th of June called "The Resistance." I will explain about the songs in this blog in detail.

POLITICAL DOOMSDAY (NOVEMBER 9, 2016): This instrumental is just one guitar with fuzz and echo drenched with studio flanging via Riffworks. It is very psychedelic and free form in certain aspects. Overall it is a must hear. https://soundcloud.com/robert-l-watson/political-doomsday-november-9-2016

MR. ORANGE MAN: On this instrumental I was trying to evoke the sounds of the late 1960's and early 1970's jazz rock and psychedelic rock. All in one instrumental. https://soundcloud.com/robert-l-watson/mr-orange-man

ALTERNATIVE FACTS: This particular instrumental sounds like a throwback of the late 1960's R&B/Soul thing. It is a great instrumental. You really have to hear it. You might love it after a few listens. https://soundcloud.com/robert-l-watson/alternative-facts

JACK OF ALL TRADES: The instrumental is a funk rock tour de force. This one will keep you moving. What else can I say? https://soundcloud.com/robert-l-watson/jack-of-all-trades

HUMILIATION: This is another psychedelic jam band instrumental that will put your ears in another groovalistic mood. https://soundcloud.com/robert-l-watson/humiliation

AMERICA'S NIGHTMARE PT. 2: This one is an experimental instrumental. It has jazz, reggae, jam band, classic rock, hard rock and everything in between. https://soundcloud.com/robert-l-watson/americas-nightmare-pt-2

THE RESISTANCE: A very Latin Rock instrumental. I love this one. It is totally different. You will be surprised to hear this one. https://soundcloud.com/robert-l-watson/the-resistance

THE TIMES (WE ARE LIVING IN): On this one I wanted to evoke an alternative grunge feel from the early 1990's for this one. Robert Watson meets Nirvana. https://soundcloud.com/robert-l-watson/the-times-we-are-living-in

(THERE'S PLENTY OF) CHAOS IN THE WORLD: This instrumental will put you into another world of music. Nothing will ever be the same after listening to this a few times. https://soundcloud.com/robert-l-watson/theres-plenty-of-chaos-in-the-world

AN ODE TO PARKLAND: This is a mellow instrumental with just the Ovation acoustic-electric. It is a dedication song to the people who lost their lives during the Parkland High School tragedy in 2018 but it is also a healing song. Warning: You might be weeping at the end of the song. https://soundcloud.com/robert-l-watson/an-ode-to-parkland

Well. That is it for this blog. I put links of the songs from my SoundCloud page where you can listen to the songs in its entirety. Thank you all for the support.
Peace,

"Groovalistic Moods" is coming out on the 17th of July, 2018. You do not want to miss this. I will be talking about the songs in this blog in detail.

GROOVALISTIC MOODS: The title track is very psychedelic and very groovy at the same time. I loved writing it. Fuzz toned leads are out of this world on the track along with the groovy bass line and a Wurlitzer keyboard tone with a tremolo effect via Nord Electro 3 Seventy Three keyboard.

NELLIE (ROCK VERSION): I wrote this song dedicated to my mother ten years ago. It went through different variations before I recorded the song. In fact there are two versions of the song on here. The other version of the song is a Smooth Jazz version which I will get into later. The Rock Version is more psychedelic, jam band, retro type of groove with guitars, bass, and organ playing behind a 1960's drum style groove. Awesome.

LEAH NICOLE: This song is dedicated to my niece. I wrote it years ago until I found a better key and a different song structure for the song. This one changes tempos throughout the song. Ovation acoustic-electric guitar, mellotron flute sounds, bass, mellotron string sounds, Fender Rhodes keyboard tone via Nord Electro 3 Seventy Three keyboard, Moog like keyboard lead via Arturia MiniBrute SE plus the guitar tracks. This song must be played many times.

SCUTTLESCUB'S COMIN' TO GIT YA: This song has a Farfisa keyboard tone on here along with the bass and guitar grooving along with it. The song has an indie rock vibe with a chill feel. Anyone who loves music have to listen to this one. This one catches the ear.

MIDDLE AGED DISCO QUEEN: This song is about a woman who is middle aged and is yearning for the days of the 1970's disco days. She is very stuck in that era of Studio 54, Saturday Night Fever, Chic, Donna Summer, Bee Gees, etc. The groove is so disco that the disco music lovers will love this one.

SCREAMIN' DEMON: This song has a very fast 1960's psychedelic rock groove. If anyone who loves psychedelic rock, acid rock, jam band music. You will love this one.

JORDAN (J.R.): This song is dedicated to my nephew. It has two bass guitar tracks and an Arturia MiniBrute SE keyboard lead on this one. The groove is very street, very urban, very hip hop with a little bit of thugged out vibe. Anyone who is in their teens or in their twenties will love this one.

JAZZ CHILLIN': This one is totally jazz. If you are a jazz lover. You will really love this one. It will keep you on your toes.

NELLIE (SMOOTH JAZZ VERSION): I recorded a Smooth Jazz version of the song because I felt that many listeners who don't care for the rock version may like and love the smooth jazz version better. It has an early 1980's smooth jazz groove. chorused guitars and chorused keyboards along with mellotron tenor sax and mellotron trumpet filling out the song.

"Groovalistic Moods" will be available on July 17, 2018 on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Amazon, Amazon On Demand, Tidal, YouTube, and many more. Be sure to get your copy. Thank you all for the support. Peace, love and happiness.
My Thoughts On The Songs.Hello everyone.

"Future Of The World" came out on October 10, 2017 digitally. Here are my thoughts on the songs I wrote for "Future Of The World."

FUTURE OF THE WORLD: This is a psychedelic rock tour de force. It is a
reminiscent between the Jimi Hendrix Experience 1967-1968 era to early
Traffic 1967-1968 era. There are harpsichord sounds as well as organ
sounds along with mellotron string sections. There is also some clean
jazz octave chording and a tiny fuzz lead guitar solo. A melodic walking
bass is so out of sight on this track. The rhythm guitar on the track
is totally soulful at best.

MOTHER EARTH IS CRYING OUT TO US: I wrote this song nine years ago. It
went through a few changes also. The tempo was different when I wrote it
and it was in a different key. Anyway, the song starts with an uptempo
beat. By the end of the song it goes into a mid tempo beat. Everything
falls into place with this one. It sounds like good old Robert Watson.
Check it out.

WAKING UP TO A STORM: The song has a mid 1970's Robin Trower "Bridge Of
Sighs" vibe. The tone is very dreamy. Anyway I was trying to evoke some
emotion for that song. It is more indie rock than psychedelic rock. I
really love the song. I loved writing it.

COSMIC ENERGY IS IN FULL EFFECT: I was going for that Jimi Hendrix
"Electric Ladyland" period where Jimi was taking his music a bit further
after the first two albums. The lead guitar solo is echoed fuzz treated
with studio flanging via Sonoma Wire Works RiffWorks. The rhythm guitar
on the track is out of this world. The bass track is just groovin'
along the way. I love it. It is a must heard song.

POSITIVE VIBES: This is a song I wrote many moons ago. It had gone
through several changes as well. The version I recorded for "Future Of
The World" is the best one. This one is so realized. It has everything.
Psychedelic rock, jazz rock, rock & roll, etc. It is going to blow
everyone's minds.

THE WORLD IS GOING CRAZY: I wrote this song ten years ago. The song went
through lots of changes over the years. This one has a funk rock
groove. There is a screaming octavia like lead on this one. There are
monophonic synth lines as well. The organ on this track is just out of
sight. The bass is walking and moving along with the groove. The rhythm
guitar is funkier and soulful along with the MXR Phase 90 single note
riffing. This one will blow your mind.

HYPOCRISY PART 2: When I wrote Hypocrisy nine years ago. I thought I was
done with it. Then the 2016 election and everything that was going on
at the end of the Obama administration. I felt it was time to do a part
two of an old song that I wrote in 2008. Hypocrisy Part 2 still has the
same tempo that Hypocrisy Part 1 has. I used a different key this time
around. The is a walking bass track. A grittier
rhythm guitar track. There are different keyboard sounds such as a
mellotron tenor sax and mellotron trumpet, a mellotron male and female
choir, the organ and the clavinet. I can't forget to mention the Ernie
Isley inspired lead guitar track. It is so awesome. The whole track is
awesome. It is definitely a must hear.

TRAVESTY: I was going for the late 1960's and early 1970's funk groove.
It is a little reminiscent of Isaac Hayes' Hot Buttered Soul period.
There is a piano track, an organ track, a rhythm wah wah guitar track, a
walking bass track, a tremolo amp with fuzz guitar track. It is all
over the place. Everyone will have to listen to it three or four times
before they get it. It is awesome.

PEOPLE WANT TO SEE A CHANGE IN THE WORLD: I wrote this song nine years
ago during the Bush 43 administration. This song went through some
changes but most of the tempo is still the same. It is a slow rock song.
It has an awesome lead guitar on the song that sounds like Ernie Isley
using a flanger and big muff. I was using a Line 6 Flanger plugin as
well as an Electro-Harmonix Big Muff fuzz plugin.
I was using the POD farm software made by Line 6. There is plenty of
organ, piano, clavinet, mellotron female and male choir as well as a
monophonic synthesizer lead. I can't forget about the melodic bass
lines. The instrumental is awesome. I want the listeners to be focused,
relaxed and be zoned into the groove. This one is a must listen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE: This song is a very quiet instrumental song. I used
an Ovation acoustic/electric guitar, a Nord Electro 3 Seventy-Three
keyboard for the mellotron flute sounds, the mellotron string section
along with the mellotron male and female choir. It is a wonderful song. I
needed a song to quiet the mood. We all need a moment of silence.
Strange things are happening today. We sometimes forget what's really
important in our lives and we need to stop and smell the roses.

I hope each and every one of you will enjoy and listen to the new release. "Future Of The World" is now available on I-Tunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, Amazon, and many other digital stores. Get your copy today.
Hello everyone.

It has been a while since my last blog. I am blogging about the ten new 30 second song samples on my ReverbNation and SoundCloud pages. These are new songs for my upcoming release called "Future Of The World" to be coming out in the fall. I hope each and every one of you will check them out, please.

However, I will put the whole full songs on my ReverbNation and SoundCloud pages sometime in August. I decided to do it by putting on ten 30 second song samples for the time being because I want the people who go on my pages to listen to them carefully. The more they listen to the 30 second song samples the more they want to hear the whole song. In due time I will put the whole full songs on there.

Here is the music from the artists and groups that have inspired me all of these years.

Led Zeppelin - Heartbreaker
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hdQi2_HzAc

It is the hard rocking vibe that I love from this song.

Isaac Hayes - Café Regios
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7BXvcSguXg

It is the first instrumental that I fell in love with as a little boy.

Johnnie Taylor - Stop Doggin' Me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkPhpzS-wxg

The late Johnnie Taylor had that gospel tinged voice with a pinch of blues and soul.

Traffic - The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8M8R835Ck4

That group was awesome from the late 1960's and early 1970's. They had the whole package.

I hope each and every one of you will enjoy my new blog as well as listening to the people who have inspired me on a musical level. Peace.

I want all of you to know that I appreciate all the support you have given me the last eight years. It has been wonderful. I am going to keep on doing what I am doing. I have a deep spirit inside me that does not allow me to give up. I can't give up now even if I want to. Music is how I create and breathe. Music is how I express myself.

I love music because music loves me back. It was something I gravitate as a little kid by listening to the radio or playing records on a Hi-Fi.

I think about the music I loved listening to as a kid such as Isaac Hayes, Bobby "Blue" Bland, the Jackson 5, James Brown, the Temptations, the Dramatics, Eddie Kendricks, the Isley Brothers, Earth, Wind & Fire, the Emotions, and the list goes on and on.

I also think about rock music that I loved listening to such as Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, the Ventures, the Mamas & Papas, the Association, Black Oak Arkansas, Steppenwolf, and Rod Stewart.

The one musician I got into later was Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix opened me up to a new world of rock & roll that I have experienced before. After hearing Jimi Hendrix, I had a new appreciation for rock music as well as music in general.

There was a time I thought I would never be doing music because of fear, anxious, and nervousness because I didn't think the people would accept a black guy with autism playing music. We had blind musicians such as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Jose Feliciano, Clarence Carter, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Jeff Healy, Ronnie Milsap, and the list goes on.

By 1999, I was thirty-two when I participated in several blues jam sessions. It was a great experience that I will always treasure.

As time went on, I decided to work on my songwriting and my artistry. I've been doing it for eight years now.

In closing I will say this.... Robert Watson is music... Music is Robert Watson.

Peace, love and happiness....
Robert
Here are the nine songs from my upcoming self titled project.

SCROOGE: This instrumental has an early Santana influence to it. The song went through plenty of stages when I wrote it in the early 2000's. It was originally six or seven minutes longer. It sounds better as a shorter instrumental.
Check out "Scrooge" by Robert Watson - http://www.reverbnation.com/robertwat…/song/23039525-scrooge

WHEN YOU'RE DOWN & OUT, PICK YOURSELF UP: This one is a funk rock instrumental with a slight Robin Trower influence. I was going for his "Bridge of Sighs" era for this one. It is a great one. This one also has a blues thing at the end of the song. This song went through several stages as well.

AUTISM: This is an instrumental for the loved ones who have people living with autism. I know because I have autism. I was going for a slow rock bluesy kind of groove. Plus I played some Albert King inspired licks on this one. The Mellotron choir comes from my keyboard Nord Electro 3. The same goes for the Mellotron flute too.

ROMANTIC NIGHTS: This one is a smooth jazz tour de force. It is the kind of instrumental you can slow dance to. Plus, I was thinking about lovers having romantic nights just being together and having fun.

CONSCIOUSNESS: This instrumental is a jam band tour de force with funk rock, reggae, hard rock, alternative rock, everything all roll into one instrumental.
Check out "Consciousness" by Robert Watson - http://www.reverbnation.com/robert…/…/23039537-consciousness

LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL: This one has a nice groove. This one is a must hear. I think everyone who loves instrumental music will love it. The music takes the listener to another world. It is very groovalistic.
Check out "Light At The End Of The Tunnel" by Robert Watson - http://www.reverbnation.com/…/23039541-light-at-the-end-of-…

GOOD OL' COUNTRY PEOPLE: This instrumental is a country rock flavored one. It evokes the spirit of the outlaw country rock of the 1970's. I was going for the influences of Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Jerry Reed, etc. Anyone who loves country rock or outlaw country will love this one.
Check out "Good Ol' Country People" by Robert Watson - http://www.reverbnation.com/…/23039543-good-ol-country-peop…
OBSTRUCTION: This is another hard rock, jam band, funk rock, classic rock inspired instrumental. I came up with the title because I was thinking about what President Obama was going through in the White House having to deal with the obstruction of the Republican congress. Obstruction can mean a lot of things but you can draw your own conclusions.
Check out "Obstruction" by Robert Watson - http://www.reverbnation.com/robertwa…/…/23039544-obstruction

S-H-E-R-R-I: This is a dedication instrumental to my sister Sherri Watson-Robinson. It has two layered rhythm guitar tracks playing through a Leslie rotating speaker plug in from my Line 6 interface. Rhythm guitar track one has the Leslie effect at a slower speed while the rhythm guitar track two has the Leslie effect at a faster speed. There are also tasteful Mellotron flute tracks in the song as well. This song closes my self titled project.

I haven't been blogging in a long while. The last time I blogged was in February. I have a tendency to run out of things I wanted to say. I didn't want to blog about anything unless it was about my music. It gets boring just blogging about the same old thing.

I know I don't have a huge following or anything like that. I know that I am not a big star. Shucks, I don't even have a local following in the local music scene in Dayton.

I am forty-seven years old. I am a black male with autism. I am an artist. I don't think that the public is ready for a forty-seven year old autistic black artist who writes instrumentals. The climate of the music business these days sucks. It is about eye candy and not ear candy.

I am not signed to a record label. In fact, I don't want to be. I have been an artist for seven years doing it all by myself. I don't know how long I will be an artist. I will always write but it is getting to a point within five years time that I will shut down some of my music pages.

I know I will have to promote harder online. I just don't want to put the same links over and over on Twitter as well as Facebook like I am spamming for no good reason.

There are lots of great artists out there who are doing the indie route as well. I have listened to lots of artists and groups on Reverbnation. Some of them are excellent. Some of them are good. Some of them really suck, needless to say.

I need a reason to keep blogging but I just need to blog when I have something to say.

I am going to be me. I am not going to be something that I'm not. I won't start right now. One day I will just fade away. That is all for now.

Disappointed,

Here are my musical plans for 2014. I plan on finishing new instrumental songs that I have been working on during the first part of 2013.

I plan on doing more video blogs showing my instruments as well as effects. I also plan to do more music videos.

The way I work on my music is that I take my time and I do it right. I don't believe in rushing in creativity. If you rush creativity then the music suffers as well as the artistry.

That is pretty much it for me as an artist for 2014.

This is my first blog in a few months. I know you all probably wondering what I would like to do in the future. On a musical level I would love to write instrumental music for independent films. I have always been attracted to independent films.

I would like to keep growing as an artist as well. I believe as an artist you have to grow or your music will get stale and boring. I am still going to keep that belief in myself and remember why I am making music in the first place.

In closing, I would like to say thank you for all of the support. Peace.

My new release "Musical Visions, Vol. 2" is finally out. Here are the nineteen songs analyzed in detail.

FLYING HIGH WITH THE PEOPLE I LOVE: A slow rock instrumental song that recalls some of the grooves from the late 1960's and early 1970's.

OCCUPY: An ode to the Occupy movement. This instrumental is very progressive rock influenced.

UNCLE FUZZY: A psychedelic rock instrumental song tour de force. My niece called me that because of my beard.

BROTHERS: A mid tempo instrumental that goes places from New Orleans to funk and finally to hard rock.

SNAKE: A very funky, funky, funky instrumental that has to get into your psyche. This one has to be listened to many times.

COLD NIGHT: A very nice slow rock instrumental.

LOVERS SHARING A ROMANTIC EVENING: This one is a laid back smooth jazz and r&b instrumental. This one is for the lovers.

THE WALKER: This instrumental was influenced by rock music of the early to mid 1960's. The Ventures were in my head when I came up with this tune.

ULTRA FUNKY: Another instrumental with a smooth jazz and funk flavor.

FLOWING WATER: This one has a New Orleans feel. It is very moving shall we say.

TRACEY'S SONG: A traditional jazz instrumental. This is a dedication song to my older sister.

A SONG FOR MY FATHER: A slow rock instrumental. This one is a dedication to my father.

I WANT TO SHARE MY LIFE WITH SOMEONE: This instrumental is very inspired by the Motown era.

AURORA, COLORADO (JULY 20, 2012): This instrumental is a dedication song that is dedicated to the people who lost their lives on that fateful tragic day.

I WANT TO GIVE ALL MY LOVE TO YOU: This is a Barry White-Love Unlimited Orchestra inspired instrumental. This one is for slow dancing.

TOXIC WORLD: Another hard rocking instrumental that is so awesome and so addictive.

FIGHT TO THE FINISH: This one is very New Wave-ish. It keeps you moving.

AMERICA'S NIGHTMARE: A hard rock-heavy metal instrumental with just three guitar tracks with no bass.

DESTRUCTION: A midtempo instrumental that starts off with a fast groove and it ends with an all way out psychedelic groove. Groovy baby. Yeah!!!

I'm an instrumentalist. I don't sing or write lyrics. I speak through my guitar. The guitar does the talking for me when words are harder to come out. I'm feeling that instrumentalists these days don't get enough respect. We really work hard on our instrument whether it might be piano, guitar, bass, organ, keyboards, sax, trumpet, trombone, flute, or drums.

There's nothing wrong with singers getting the most attention but give the instrumentalists who don't sing some respect. Please.

It isn't something I'm losing sleep over but I'm realizing that the only time instrumentalists who get the most respect are the ones who are playing smooth jazz or traditional jazz. The instrumentalists who play psychedelic-experimental or other genres don't get the same kind of respect. That is very unfortunate. It is something I had to get off my chest.

I just wanted to give something for people to think about. Thank you all very much.
I have deleted by Soundcloud account due to the situation with De-Regalo. Apparently the De-Regalo web site had my music for free downloading without my permission. It had brought to my attention by another indie artist who had an account on Soundcloud. I found out via Facebook. I deleted all of my songs and closed my account for good. When you delete your songs from Soundcloud it automatically disappears from De-Regalo. Please beware of phony sites.
I wanted to bring this attention to all of my fans because I appreciate the love and support you have given me. All I ask of you is if you're a fan of mine. Please buy my music online. I worked too hard to be giving it away for free. I put all of my blood, sweat and tears into my music.
Just to let all of you know that I am not on Soundlcoud anymore. You can still find my music at these sites.
